Woodlands Bunkhouse

General Information:

Woodlands Bunkhouse, renovated in 2010, is a converted stable in the grounds of Woodlands Outdoor Education Centre, a late Regency building, set in 10 acres of grounds. Close to the River Wye and with wonderful views of the Black Mountains, Woodlands is within easy reach of the spectacular limestone area to the south and is on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Nearby is the historic town of Hay on Wye, famous for its vast array of bookshops and annual festival.

The bunkhouse is open 12 months of the year and with its modern facilities provides comfortable accommodation for families and a wide variety of groups.

Accommodation:

With recent renovations increasing the capacity to 23, the ground floor has a new, well-equipped kitchen and dining room. There are 3 bedrooms on the ground floor with one of the rooms having en-suite facilities and further bathroom facilities are available downstairs. Two of these rooms are suitable for disabled access. There are six first floor bedrooms offering bunk bed accommodation for 6, 4, 2, 2, 3 and 1 with further shared bathroom facilities. Camping is available in the grounds meaning that larger numbers can be accommodated.

The bunkhouse can be used as a base to simply relax or we can arrange courses in outdoor adventurous activities which are individually designed to suit groups of all ages and abilities.

Activities:

We are ideally located close to the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons and the River Wye and our fully qualified instructors can provide a wide range of courses involving one or more of the following outdoor activities: mountain walking, low level walks, caving, rock climbing, kayaking, open canoeing, orienteering, in-grounds ropes course and gorge walking.
We can provide any of these or design a course suited to your specific needs. If you require something less strenuous then we will be happy to organise it for you.
